IPL Teams Launch Websites & Fan Zones
The Indian Premiere League is less than one week away and the buzz is starting to build up. The TV campaigns have been launched and so have the websites of the respective teams. Lets look at all the IPL websites and what have they been upto..
Kolkata Knight Riders - Leading the pack is Shahrukh khans kolkata knight riders which have not only revamped their website but also added a fan zone for fans. What’s more there are features like KKR TV, KKR Academy and a merchandize store as well. They also have official presence on facebook, twitter and orkut.
The website also has a section named SRK blogs which is still to be updated which means SRK may go blogging as well to promote his IPL team. SRK’s team has already created a lot of buzz with the TV show for cheer leaders and I expect their website to do the same.
Rajasthan Royals - Close on the heals of SRK’s knights come the defending champions of IPL Rajasthan royals. Rajasthan royals have the most complete website which has a new addition with the fan zone which is its presence across social media with communities on facebook, youtube, twitter and the indian smsgupshup. It also has a forum for discussion around the team. Its mobile zone powered by smsgupshup already boasts of over 25000 members. This may rise with the ipl and shilpa shetty’s association with the team.
Delhi Daredevils - Delhi boys come a close third. They have an official partnership with Bigadda which has a sizeable Indian audience though the group on bigadda is still to kick off in a big way. They also have an smsgupshup group which has over 29000 members. On the website itself they have a blog but its not been up to date. Also they have merchandise buying options.
Deccan Chargers -They have an sms gupshup group with over 23000 members and a chargers lounge section which has a graphitti board and a discussion forum. They lack any other social media presence on orkut facebook etc.
Chennai Super kings - They have a blog which is well updated and a fan zone on their websites
Mumbai Indians - Mumbai Indian just have a fan zone and a discussion forum with about 1276 active users.
Royal challengers - Royal challengers website is powered by MSN India and they are offering email ids to users.
Kings XI Punjab - This is the only team which is yet to launch its web presence. Its says coming soon.
Let's start cheering ... Which one's ur's ??.

Indian Premier League to move out of India

Season two of the Indian Premier League will be played outside India. The final schedule and venue will be announced on Monday. It will probably be moved to England or South Africa, reliable sources said.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) decision to host the Indian Premier League (IPL) outside the country has left fans and franchise owners with mixed reactions.
"Because of the attitude of the government that they are not ready to spare security forces for the cricket tournament... we are forced to take the decision to move the event out of India," BCCI President Shashank Manohar and IPL Commissioner Lalit Modi said.
"The franchise owners praised the BCCI for keeping the IPL still on.Bangalore franchise owner Vijay Mallya commented : "With the IPL still on it shows the commitment of BCCI and IPL towards Indian cricket fans,”.
However, fans were left disappointed after the BCCI decision."Now there is nothing Indian about the Indian Premier League " commented a disappointed cricket fan in Bangalore.
The IPL had been in deep trouble for weeks now, because the match-dates were clashing with the general elections. Security was the major concern, and both the centre and the host states of IPL were finding it impossible to provide security and other infrastructure for both the elections and the tournament.
IPL commissioner and chairman Lalit Modi, who was also at the press conference, said the number of matches, format and timing of the event will remain unchanged and the organisers would not tinker with the "integrity of the tournament".
"Dates and timings of the matches will remain the same. The Indian audiences can watch the matches at 4 pm and 8 pm IST as they did in the inaugural season," Modi said.

- Gautam Gambhir
- Manoj Tiwari
- Daniel Vettori
- Dinesh Kartik
- Paul Collingwood

The daredevils has eight international players — Paul Collingwood,Glenn McGrath, Daniel Vettori, Farvez Maharoof, Tillekaratne Dilshan and Brett Greeves, AB de Villiers, Owais Shah.
Eight international players, the fact maybe. But remember that only 4 international players will be allowed to play in a match. The team practise sessions would be a mixture local lads and myriad accents and an Australian coach.
SET Max gears up for IPL
SET Max, which will broadcast the Indian Premier League (IPL) matches from April 10, has conceptualised a three phased campaign to let people know the kind of entertainment they can gain from the channel.
The phase one of the campaign was initiated in mid-January, which took a humorous look at how the IPL has managed to make nation boundaries redundant. The phase two, called 'Ek Desh, Ek Junoon', was launched on March 08. The third phase, which is centered around the tune-in strategy, will be launched once the IPL cuts off the edge. This year again, season 2 guarantees that the entire country will say 'Deewana bana diya'."
The fact that IPL is still sorting out its schedule, venue and security, hasn't deterred the channel to go ahead with the campaign. "For us, the overall dates remain the same. The IPL will start on April 10, as scheduled. It is just the venues that may be changed, which doesn't affect our plans," Gaurav Vice-president, marketing, SET Max said.
'Ek Desh, Ek Junoon' aims to promote the channel as the destination for entertainment for the next 45 days, starting April 10. IPL promises to scale new heights this year and the presentation of these matches will ensure compelling family entertainment this season too.
For example, a group of people sitting with newspapers - they all turn a page in sync. Cooks in a restaurant in Mumbai twirl a Roomali roti in the air at the same time. In a class room full of kids, all raise their little fingers to ask for permission to go to the bathroom at the same time, 500 people at VT station call out for a taxi at the same time and so on. A number of such montage shots are shown.
Besides the ad film, SET Max will promote the campaign in 150 towns through on-ground activities. These will involve contests, merchandising and other activities. Print is not being used as a medium of communication for the campaign. However, outdoor advertising, radio and the Internet will form a crucial part of the promotional mix.
As of today, SET Max has signed eight companies as associate sponsors, which includes brands like Airtel digital TV, Havells, Hyundai, Max New York Life Insurance, Thums Up and Vodafone. LG, Godrej, ITC and Samsung have also confirmed that they will be substantial advertisers on IPL, but it is not clear whether they will be associate sponsors.

New IPL dates not feasible - Home Ministry
Taking into account all the factors, the home ministry has advised the IPL organizers that it may not be feasible to hold the matches at per the revised schedule submitted by them on March 7. The home ministry said that IPL organizers have been advised to accommodate the concerns of the various state governments and draw up a revised schedule and submit it to the ministry.
For Bangalore, Karnataka has expressed its inability to provide security on two match days but has agreed to provide security on the remaining four match days. For Chennai, Tamil Nadu has agreed to provide security because the matches are scheduled after the elections. For Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh has expressed its inability to provide security during the election period. Delhi said it cannot provide security and asked for the matches to be rescheduled after the elections on May 7. Punjab and West Bengal have agreed to provide security for the matches at Mohali and Kolkata if they are not required to release state police personnel for election duty.
